The Festival of Fun is to be a festival of comedy and laughter with many groups, businesses and organisations coming together in April 2017, hosted by Restormel Arts and focussed on St. Austell.
“PRSF helps Restormel Arts bring exciting contemporary jazz to Cornwall ”
Restormel Arts is delighted that PRS for Music Foundation has granted the arts charity £2,540 to support its forthcoming St Austell Bay Jazz programme featuring some of the most exciting artists on the UK’s contemporary jazz scene. The season kicks off on 21 October with Theo Travis’ Double Talk “A rare, fine English psychedelic jazz” - Mojo Magazine, followed byvirtuoso guitarists Pete Oxley & Nicolas Meier on 18 November with Inner Space Music led by trumpeter and composer Loz Speyer on 8 December.
2016 brings Septet 7 Pieces of Silver performing the music of Horace Silver on 3 February, winner of the 2013 Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition Tom Green brings his acclaimed Septet to St Austell on 9 March. Sam Crockatt’s Quartet features Mobo nominated pianist Kit Downes on 20 April and the season concludes with the truly beautiful music of the Sirkis/Bialas International Quartet on 18 May. The programme includes jazz workshops - enabling local musicians to learn from some of the UK’s leading jazz artists.
Restormel Arts programmer Phil Webb said “We are delighted with this award from PRSF, their support enables us to bring some of the UK’s most exciting jazz musicians to St Austell. These ensembles are of the highest quality and the appreciative jazz audiences in Cornwall will be able to hear some truly inspirational music on their doorsteps without having to make the trek to London”.
During the winter of 2015/16 regular monthly concerts take place in the friendly, welcoming atmosphere at The Bosuns, Quay Road, Charlestown, St Austell. PL25 3NX. Meals & bar available.
