St Austell Festival of Fun


Restormel Arts’ planned Festival of Fun for St. Austell will be held over Easter weekend – 14/15/16th April 2017. Working closely with organisations and business representatives in and around the town, the Arts charity are linking up a variety of venues and people who are supporting and working with the Festival of Fun committee to deliver a wide range of events involving the whole community.
St. Austell Market House, the Eden Project, Heligan Gardens, St. Austell Arts Theatre, Wheal Martyn Museum, St. Austell Library, Radio St. Austell Bay, Cooklands, White River Cinema, Great Western Railway, Cymaz, Swamp Circus,  Cornwall College, St. Austell, To Life Theatre, St. Austell BID, St. Austell CoC, White River Developments, Brannel School, St. Austell Soroptomists, SNAP Fitness, Churches Together, KEAP & the Story Republic, Roseland Observatory, The Big Lunch, St. Austell Brewery, the Clays, St. Austell TIC and the Keay Theatre are making plans to fill the town with music, theatre, dance and laughter.
With the aim of creating a programme that is accessible to all ages and backgrounds, there will be a raft of free activities alongside some ticketed shows.

Free pop up surprises will be in evidence across the town and include SWAMP Circus workshops and performance, dance and song workshops, flashmob choir and flashmob dance, Big Beat Junk Band,  Pooch Party In the Park, Easter Bonnet Competition, Yarn Bombing, giant bubbles, a Grand Pub Quiz, Open Mic and much more.
There will be a very special performance of Jesus Christ Superstar produced by Churches Together and performed at St. John’s Church, everyone will be welcome to the show which is not a ticketed event, but admission will be by donation of whatever amount audience members feel they can afford.

White River Cinema will hold a one off screening of a popular family film at reduced ticket prices for families.
Wheal Martyn will host a free exhibition of work from Roseland Observatory and a ticketed Jazz Brunch on Sunday 16th April when local duo S’Wonderful Jazz will entertain with their own brand of mellow, laid back Sunday sounds.

Stand Up Comedy and classic film screenings at the Arts Theatre are to be confirmed.

The final night of the weekend is one for fans of the very best soul music with a closing gig at the Keay Theatre. Restormel Arts are delighted to announce the headline band is the mighty Geno Washington and his Ram Jam Band with support from Falmouth’s fabulous Soul Sensation. Ready Steady Mod DJ Martin Bate will be spinning some tunes to round things off.
